Arm Holdings Gives Qualcomm 60 Days to Terminate Licensing Agreement
British semiconductor and software design company, Arm Holdings, is set to terminate its architectural licensing agreement with Qualcomm, according to a report by Bloomberg News, cited by Reuters.
The report indicates that Arm has given Qualcomm a 60-day notice period for the cancellation of the agreement. Under this deal, Qualcomm had the rights to use Arm's intellectual property in its chip design.
This announcement comes amidst ongoing legal disputes between the two companies. Arm, which is majority-owned by Japan’s SoftBank Group, filed a lawsuit against Qualcomm in 2022, following Qualcomm's acquisition of Nuvia and its subsequent failure to obtain a new license.
No official comment has been received from Arm on the matter.
